![]() He was a starter and was willing to come off the bench, and boy, he impacted so many games this year for us. I’m very proud of the fact that we’ve had quite a few with Gabe and Nicholas Baer. To see them get recognized and appreciated for all the things they do to help us win, and certainly Payton, I felt like he would be the guy that would win that award. Then for Connor and Tony, just proud of those two guys, how they fought all year long. His consistency this year was spectacular, as he figured out the conference after going through it for one year. I think Filip, being third-team, is certainly well deserved. It’s hard to be first-team all-league in this conference, and he did that. He probably would have gone in the second round, and he came back to make a statement. I think you look at Kris, he decided to come back. To have so many guys recognized is also a great feeling. I think as coaches, we know how hard they work and prepare, and you want to know that at the end of it all, there’s some recognition when you accomplish some things that those guys did. You look at the list of players, there’s so many good players, and to have our guys recognized, certainly it’s well-deserved. How much do you look forward to today every year as a coach, to see your players get those type of awards?įRAN McCAFFERY: I think it’s a great feeling as a coach to have your players recognized on a national level in such a prestigious league. Several players named to All-Big Ten honors today.Other than that, my swing, my game is still there to shoot a low number, just got a little off today.IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa Men’s basketball Head Coach Fran McCaffery met with media Tuesday afternoon before the team left for the Big Ten tournament in Chicago this weekend. So just need to go work a little bit around the greens and a little bit on my long irons. But yeah, just had a lot of 5s on the card today, and playing the par‑5s 1‑over was something I haven't done in a while. I got to 3‑under early through four holes, had another couple looks on the next couple holes, and it really could have been a low front nine. JORDAN SPIETH: Yeah, yeah, I had five birdies and I'm happy with being able to convert. Given the number of people that are still above par, you must feel okay being where you are? 13 wasn't I just‑‑ 13 and 16 were really, really hard holes today. I'd consider them putts, though, because they were by the green. I mean, I had two three‑putts that were from the first cut of rough. Were 12 and 13 three‑putts? I missed those two holes. You know, I was leaving them all short, so I decided to go ahead and be a little aggressive on that one and ended up running too far, and I was too aggressive on the next one. The greens are firm, and I was‑‑ you know, and it was something I worked on hard with my coach last week was just pitches across greens because I've had pretty much that same shot a lot this year. JORDAN SPIETH: I just didn't judge it right. I just let a couple get to me but came back with a couple birdies. I was hitting it good enough to shoot 3‑under out here, even in this wind. There's no rust, but it was one of those kind of days where I really should have been 3‑under. All in all there's a couple rusty mistakes. I had a bogey‑‑ a couple bogeys, one right next to the green on a par‑5. When I made mistakes it was because I just couldn't control my first‑putt speed. That's what killed me the last two weeks. JORDAN SPIETH: I got to control the speed better on the greens.
